This exhibit by visual arts students in the ‘Professional Artist Program’ at Oxygen College, sees tertiary students exploring the artist book format as a potentially new avenue for artmaking. With artist’s books often being a new experience for the students, the handmade books see the budding artists bring a fresh lens to the process and result in a range of diverse and interesting books. The exhibition presents a collection of these artist books, enriched by the library context and gives the audience new insights into books in local libraries.

This project is coordinated by artists and educators Luisa Gioffre Suzuki and Glen Smith, who are passionate about nurturing the next generation of artists in Greater Geelong and
beyond. Glen is the Department Manager of Visual Arts at Oxygen College, whose creative practice includes artist’s books, printmaking, painting right through to public artworks. Luisa is a visual arts trainer, visual artist and acclaimed illustrator who holds an extensive track record in the creative industry.

Access notes: Accessible bathroom available nextdoor at the back of the Geelong West Town Hall.
