Giramondo / HEAT

Giramondo is a publisher of Australian and international literature, based in Western Sydney. We are renowned for publishing writing at the highest level of literary achievement: writing that transforms the Australian literary landscape, and that shapes the reception of Australian literature internationally.

Our books, and our literary magazine HEAT, are known for their innovative literary forms, and for their introduction of new voices and traditions into the Australian literary scene. Our goal is to publish works that will be seen as classics in years to come – that have an enduring quality because they contribute something new to Australian literary discourse, contest the limits of our national literary vision, and establish precedents for the kinds of writing which should be recognised as Australian.

First published in 1996, HEAT recommenced publication in 2022 in a new design and format that throws the focus more sharply on the individual writers featured in each issue. Contributors to HEAT include Helen Garner, Noëlle Janaczewska, Mireille Juchau, Bella Li, Alena Lodkina, David Malouf, Iman Mersal, Paul Muldoon, Helen Oyeyemi, Josephine Rowe, Oscar Schwartz, Isabella Trimboli, Madeleine Watts, Samuel Wagan Watson and Xi Xi.
