GLORIA is an intercontinental publishing platform for art and photography books. Run by Bristol-based photographer Alice Connew and Auckland-based designer Katie Kerr, the imprint acts as a research facility to explore a multidisciplinary approach to publishing. The artist is deeply involved in every step of the process, producing objects that express a singular intention—from concept to design to print. While placed firmly in the arts, our books cover a diverse range of topics: from the migration of artists to girls on motorbikes to culinary poetry. GLORIA aims to generate cultural discourse while paying utmost attention to the format of the book itself. Our publications have been called the “most thoughtfully designed and elegantly produced art and photography books in Aotearoa” (Metro, 2021) and “mind-opening publishing at its best” (Art New Zealand, 2021).
