Ornate Gesture is the small-press imprint of Naarm/Melbourne based designer Edward Hubber. The imprint focuses on the production of zines and small-run artist books with past projects centring around collage and photography. The imprint gets its name from Susan Sontag’s ‘Notes on Camp’ and revels in the gaudy and excessive. It centres work around high and low brow visual culture, exploring design philosophy through a clash of cut-up visuals. It embraces the camp-ish methodologies of critical design. Our recent publications ‘Golden Age’ and ‘Blackout’ explore differing modes of collage and expressions of material culture.
