Shadow Editions

Naarm/Melbourne

Shadow Editions is an experimental press founded by artist, designer and author Michael L. Davison. Publications use seriality, found imagery and narrative fiction to interrogate cultural understandings of gender, technology and place. Davison designs each book to reflect the conceptual content being explored. He utilises typography, unique paper stocks and packaging materials to create a multivalent work of art.

Shadow Editions books are sold in art and design retailers in Melbourne and New York. They have been exhibited at Missing Persons, Trocadero, the Museum of Contemporary Art Zine Fair, the Melbourne Art Book Fair and the Ballarat International Foto Biennale. A recent publication, ‘Some Cell Sites’ (2019), was shortlisted for the Cornish Family Award for Art and Design Publishing and won the Perimeter Books Best Self-Published Photobook at the CCP Salon.
